With approximately 3500 polar bears on Svalbard, it is not uncommon for them to visit us at Basecamp. Rest assured, your safety is our top priority, and our guides will have you protected at all times. After a day of adventure, you warm up in the sauna and challenge yourself for a wild swim in the Arctic fjord.
The most thrilling experience at Isfjord Radio is the views of the wilderness. From every window, you can sit for hours, and if you are lucky you may see the Arctic fox, whales, reindeer, polar bear, and the rich bird life in its natural element. Our hosts will share stories and the books on the shelf invite you to learn about Polar history and our great explorers. The kitchen sources local Svalbard produce from one of the remaining trappers on the island, allowing our chefs to present a dining experience inspired by the Arctic region.
