Autumn in Sunnmøre is a different kind of beautiful. The light turns golden, the mountains take on their first dusting of snow, and the region's larder reaches its peak – wild mushrooms, fresh catches from the cold fjord, cider pressed from the season's apples. This journey is built around that abundance. From a morning fishing trip on the sound to cider tasting at Skarbø farm, from the sommelier's table at Union Øye to a helicopter crossing over the autumn hills – seven days that follow the food, the drink, and the landscape they come from.

At a glance
Harvest season in the fjords
Seven days of autumn in Sunnmøre, when the region's larder is at its most generous. Two nights in Ålesund, two at Union Øye, and two at Storfjord – with a sea-to-plate fishing trip, wine tasting, cider at Skarbø farm, a helicopter crossing over the hills, and dinners that make the most of everything the season has to offer.

Eat and drink
The season on a plate
This is the journey for those who believe that where food comes from is as interesting as what it tastes like. Autumn in Sunnmøre means wild mushrooms, cold-water shellfish at their finest, freshly pressed cider from the hillside farms, and kitchens that know how to honour all of it. A fishing trip that ends at the table. A sommelier who has spent years mapping these flavours. A farm visit that shows you the other side of the menu. Union Øye and Storfjord are both Michelin Key recipients and members of Relais & Châteaux – and the restaurants at both reflect exactly that.

Six days across Sunnmøre
Day by day
An outline of what awaits – each day shaped around the food, the landscape, and the producers who make this corner of Norway so quietly extraordinary.

Day 1 — Arrival
Land in Ålesund and settle into Brosundet, at the heart of the city's Art Nouveau quarter. An evening guided walk through the historic streets, followed by dinner at LeSund.

Day 2 — From sea to plate
The day begins on the water – a fishing trip on the sound, followed by a cold plunge and wellness session back at the hotel. An afternoon wine tasting at Vino Bar, and dinner at Apotekergata 5.

A fjord cruise to Hjørundfjord with lunch at the remote village of Trandal. Arrive at Union Øye and spend the afternoon e-biking through the Nordang Valley before dinner in the historic Dining Room.

A morning kayaking on the fjord, followed by afternoon tea and an hour with the sommelier. The evening ends with dinner in the Conservatory and storytelling by the fire.

Where you'll stay
Brosundet places you at the centre of Ålesund – the Art Nouveau city that reveals itself best on foot, with two evenings to do it properly. Union Øye is a 19th-century hotel at the head of the Norangfjord, its dining room one of the most atmospheric in Norway. Storfjord Hotel is a forest retreat above the fjord, its boathouse and restaurant among the finest reasons to linger. We know these properties intimately – their best rooms, their rhythms, and what makes each one worth the journey.
